Poplar schoolboy boxer Desmond Johnson added his name to the East London success list after claiming a national schools title for Newham BC in Dagenham on Saturday.
Stepney-born Johnson clinched his reward in the Class Two Under-46kg final against talented rival Brian Jackson from the Barnsley-based Hard and Fast BC.
Johnson, who began boxing at the TKO gym in East London where his father worked, stamped his class from the start of the bout, checking his rival's advances with jolting jabs and blistering follow-up shots.
Yorkshire youngster Jackson tried to get back in the bout with his own attacks but Johnson, whose cousin is Cage Rage fighter Wesley "2 play" Johnson, again showed the improved form which has been a hallmark of his title challenge.
The Bishop Challoner pupil's dominance was underlined by a 14-4 verdict from the ringside judges.
l Poplar's Lansbury BC travel to Denmark this weekend with their confidence boosted after the club's boxers recorded a 100 per cent record in last week's action.
Ismail Haqq proved too strong for Barking prospect Harry Farley on Friday night, recording a fourth Lansbury triumph in as many days after impressive wins for George Stockdale, Abdul Hannan and Koysor Hamed in West London earlier in the week.
