Daryl McMahon says Dagenham & Redbridge are well aware of Woking's strengths as they prepare to meet in the National League this weekend - but his side are in confident mood.

Darren Sarll's side arrive at Victoria Road on Saturday sitting four places and 11 points above Daggers, who are just outside the play-off spots on goal difference.

But McMahon's men are enjoying a good run, having taken 16 points from a possible 21 since their loss at Halifax Town, and are relshing the challenge.

"We have to be aware of what we do, whoever we play against," McMahon told the club website.

"It doesn't matter who we play against, if we play a team in our division who are top or bottom or a team who plays three leagues below us, we play the same way.

"We spend the majority of the week working on ourselves, we'll give 20 per cent of our time to the opposition and really try and home in on their strengths and weaknesses.

"We know they've got lots and lots of strengths but we've got to make sure we can showcase our strengths on Saturday and work hard to do that and that's going to be the plan.

"They're quite relentless what they do. They get the ball forward quickly, they're good on second balls, set-pieces, they're well organised.

"They're just a very good side. Darren [Sarll] has done a great job there, recruited really well, signed some really good players. [Padraig] Amond, Rhys Browne up front they're a real threat the pair of them.

"[Rohan] Ince in midfield is strong, good stability, knows the level. [Scott] Cuthbert at the back, [Luke] Wilkinson, [Joe] McNerney, experienced players. They're a very experienced group, we know it's going to be a tough game.

"But we know that ourselves at home, we're a match for anybody at home, we know it's a good challenge for us, we're sitting in a decent position in the league and we're looking to move forward in the second half of the season."

Daggers began the new year with a 1-0 win at Maidstone on Monday, where Josh Walker netted an 83rd-minute winner, after beating their rivals by the same margin on Boxing Day with a Myles Weston effort.

"We were happy with almost everything we did in the game," added McMahon.

"The most pleasing thing for me was the composure in that second half, when you can easily have that excuse at the back of your mind, when we didn't get that penalty, or the goal that was offside, you feel hard done by, but I never thought that affected us.

"We grew into the game in the second half, kept creating chances and kept staying positive and doing what we'd done really well in the first half. And we'll have to keep doing that for the rest of the season."

McMahon confirmed that Mauro Vilhete and Sam Ling were both back in training after injury, but Angelo Balanta remains restricted despite doing some gym work and running and Nik Tavares is out until next season.

And he is hoping the increased availability and competition for places during a busy month can keep Daggers on track as they chase promotion this term, having just missed out on the play-offs last season.

"We might try and organise a friendly to get some people some minutes in their legs which is important and 'Phippsy' is back from suspension as well which is really important and a boost to the squad as well, so we're full of bodies and healthy competition," he added.

"Getting people back from injury at this stage is really important as well, because when you go Saturday-Tuesday through this period, we know we're going to pick up little knocks again because they happen.

"Hopefully we don't get a suspension, but again that can happen, so we're going to need everybody ready to go.

"We know it's a big month and it is for most teams as we're getting into January, we've got back-to-back games right through the month so it's going to be physically and mentally draining so we need everybody ready to go.

"Confidence is good with the group. We've been on a decent run, everyone is confident, there's competition for places now with people coming back from injury which always drives the intensity in training."
