The LEA Dragons were crowned the first-ever Attendance Challenge Cup champions after producing a dramatic comeback victory in a memorable final at London Enterprise Academy.
The tournament was created to celebrate the importance of school attendance through sport, bringing together students whose commitment in the classroom matched their enthusiasm on the football pitch.
While the competition delivered plenty of excitement, teamwork, and skill, organisers said its most important message was that attendance remains the foundation of success.
The Dragons embodied that message throughout the tournament.
After falling behind in the final, they refused to give up and battled back with determination, teamwork, and composure to lift the trophy and write their names into the school’s history books as the inaugural winners.
The competition highlighted the similarities between football and education, where every contribution matters and consistency often leads to success.
Organisers said every strong attendance record represents months of commitment, resilience, and discipline, supported by families, teachers, and school staff.
The tournament was organised by the academy's attendance team, Farjana Naima and Emdad Rahman, to recognise excellent attendance while encouraging other students to improve their own records.
Naima said: "Attendance is the foundation of success.
"This competition was designed to celebrate students who consistently show commitment and to inspire others through football.
"We hope every student leaves believing that showing up every day is the first step towards achieving their ambitions."
Special guest Muhi Mikdad attended the event, presenting awards and congratulating participants on their enthusiasm, effort, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Headteacher Ashid Ali praised the initiative and its impact across the academy.
"The Attendance Challenge Cup has been an outstanding success," he said.
"It has generated genuine excitement across the academy while reinforcing the importance of excellent attendance.
"We are proud to celebrate students who demonstrate commitment, resilience, and teamwork every single day."
With attendance continuing to be a challenge for schools nationally, organisers hope the Attendance Challenge Cup will become an annual fixture, growing into an even bigger celebration of student achievement.
Although the tournament has ended, the message behind it remains clear: success starts by showing up.
Every day matters, every lesson counts, and every student has the opportunity to become a champion.
