Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets are top of the Southern League Division One table as the men's team continue their stunning start to the campaign

Victory at Newham in their second meeting of the season has lifted Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets Athletics Club to the top of the Southern League Division One table as the men's team continue their stunning start to the campaign.

The East London club, who secured promotion to the division last season, have reached the summit after the opening two meetings of the campaign as the squad built on a second-place finish in the season-opening event by prevailing at Newham last week.

Six individual successes proved the highlight for Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets, who finished 13 points clear of second-place Reading.

Pato Bangura led the charge for Victoria Park by winning the 100m in 10.60secs, while Toleme Ezekiel took the B-string title in 11.06secs and Curtis Blake won the 400m B-string race in 51.40secs.

Jordan Aromasodu crossed the line first in the 400m hurdles in 55.30secs and also won the B-string 110m hurdles in 19.10secs.

Field-event specialist Sam Sillah took first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.90m, while the club's 4x100m relay team of Abdul Buhari, Tunde Balogun, Toleme Ezekiel and Bangura cruised to victory in 42.80secs.
