Emdad Rahman celebrated reaching 100k to help raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK by enjoying a cup of tea with Councillor Khales Ahmed, the First Citizen and Speaker of Tower Hamlets.
“Emdad’s achievement is a tremendous source of pride for us all. I hope he carries on with this,” said Ahmed.
‘Running Down Dementia’ is a new challenge from Parkrun and Alzheimer’s Research UK, and the aim is for runners to pledge to run 100k and raise £100 to help strike a blow in the battle against dementia.
Rahman said: “I’m delighted to join this elite club. I cycle a lot more now, but it was great getting back into running again.
”I have run solo, with my son and gave had great fun taking selfies with my mascot Khadija (a local blind child), my football teams, Scintilla cricket club and people in my community. They have all been a part of this achievement. I am pondering about continuing the routine as clocking up more kilometres.
