London Youth Games: Tower Hamlets squad impress in cross-country competition at Parliament Hill

Borough took a squad of 15 to north London for annual event and Ruby Naughton and Lola Baty shone in the under-11 girls category
Tower Hamlets had 15 runners representing the Borough last Saturday in the cross-country London Youth Games competition at Parliament Hill.
It was a cold and rainy morning, though it failed to dampen the spirits of the squad up against some of the best regional and national runners.
Hamlets produced some very respectable individual performance at every age group level with their talented youngsters impressing.
Ruby Naughton ran an excellent race in the under-11 girls category to finish eighth with Lola Baty not too far behind in 14th.
Elden Wrightson (70th) and Harry Glyn (79th) competed for the Borough in the respective boys event and did well.
Imogen Scott-Gall took part in a very strong under-13 girls field and still managed to finish in 36th position.
Nancy Scott-Gall was 139th while Evie Doe was injured and for the under-13 boys, Oliver Baty finished in 79th with Joseph Lamb 143rd.
Hannah Long (94th) squeezed inside the top hundred in the under-15 girls category, though Demi Evarschi had to settle for 144th.
Benjy Bream was the sole Hamlets representative in the under-15 boys event and finished 110th.
Both Mahima Begum (107th) and Maryam Hussain (109th) just missed out on coming inside the top hundred for the under-17 girls competition.
George Fall battled well in the boys section to finish 111th and conclude a good day for the Borough team.
The girls finished in 27th overall - an improvement of four places compared to last year - while the boys were 30th, two spots better than in 2016.
