The University of East London were in fine form in Sheffield

Athletes from the University of East London added to their medal haul at their Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

Andre Fernandez, Lumar Sylvester, Lloyd King and Dele Onifade were convincing winners of their heat in the 4x200m relay.

And the quartet produced another blistering run to claim silver in the final, behind only their Loughborough rivals.

Thalosand Tshireletso added bronze in the triple jump with a leap of 15.07 metres, while boxer Sam Bezzina won silver in the under-60kg division and Anna Fitzpatrick, Marshall Tutu and Johnny Parkes won tennis gold.

Director of sport David Cosford said: “I’m so proud of our elite athletes performances at the BUCS Championships.

“To come away with eight medals is a marvellous achievement and testament to the fantastic array of sporting talent we now possess at UEL.”
