London Lions clamped down on the Flyers right from the start as they cruised to a comfortable League win.

Having replenished their roster with the addition of two new faces in the form of Jonathon Thompson and Jerelle Okoro,

Lions proved too strong for Flyers who suffered a minor dent to their Play-Off prospects.

A strong start from Cory Dixon and Justin Robinson set the tone on both ends of the floor.

The Lions put their foot on the gas late in the second quarter and once they built up a double-figure lead, they never looked back as Flyers struggled to recover.

Great ball movement from the home side facilitated easy baskets and relentless rebounding curtailed Flyers front line.

Mike Vigor and Brandon Boggs produced just 8 points between them, Leslee Smith the only bright spot as he hit from beyond the arc on 4 from 5 attempts on the night.

Lions also looked after the ball nicely with 11 turnovers compared to 22 for Bristol and in transition they found opportunities to score.

Cory Dixon and Brandon Peel both excelled.

The former with 13 points, 6 boards, 5 assists and 2 blocks. Meanwhile Peel was the main standout with a fine double-double of 18 points and 15 boards.

New boy Jon Thompson showed tenacious defence whilst hitting 9 points on offence.

Coach Macaulay was happy with the display in parts, “It was a little slow in occasionally as we hadn’t played in quite a while but we were happy to have the break and get fully healthy, I thought we showed the enthusiasm required and stuck to the task especially on the glass which has been a key focus for us, Larkai was strong in the middle.

“Bristol tried a few things to get out of the shackles and Smith was a handful but in the end we got the right result.”

The Lions will now be at Brixton Recreation Centre on Friday to face the Glasgow Rocks in another key match up as they climb back up the table.

Tip off on Friday is at 7.30pm and tickets selling out fast with a smaller capacity.
