BETHNAL Green Karate Club picked up one second place and three third positions at the annual British national Knock-down tournament held at Reading last weekend.
Tim Diacon collected a silver in the middleweight novice section after being beaten in a thrilling final bout, while his trio of clubmates were all accorded joint third places.
Joynal Miah gained joint third in the lightweight novice section, but might have done even better having to withdraw from the competition with a broken hand.
Vic Konakonis was joint third among the middleweight novices, after coming through three gruelling fights, while Darren Chan, like Joynal Miah was an injury casualty having to retire having secured third place in the mens middleweight category.
The quartet from the Tower Hamlets based club are now in preparation for the British Open tournament - their next big date - which takes place at the new K2 Arena, Crawley, Sussex on October 4.
The Bethnal Green club meet at the Tredegar Community Centre, Morville Street on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Further information on 07931-637527.
