Seven swimmers win events at meet
Seven members of the Bethnal Green Sharks Swimming Club scooped medals when they competed at the Waltham Forest end of season meet, which was held at Southbury Leisure Centre over the weekend.
Brid Cudmore secured two gold medals in the 200 metres freestyle and the 50m backstroke, while 14-year-old Sunny Mammone won the 50m breaststroke and the 50m freestyle.
Mammone also picked up a silver in the 200m breaststroke and a bronze in the 200m individual medley and the 50m backstroke.
Nahshon Bryan brought home another gold for the club with her win in the 50m freestyle, while 11-year-old Loula Paizi was victorious in the 200m backstroke.
Paizi also won silver medals in the 50m backstroke and breaststroke and a bronze in the 50m freestyle.
Team-mate Rusha Mondal won silver medals in the 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle and bronze medals in the 50m and 200m butterfly, while 13-year-old Esme Cudmore secured bronze in the 50m breaststroke.
Lucas Boardman completed the rout with his silver in the 50m breaststroke.
The weekend before, four Bethnal Green swimmers excelled at the Edmonton Phoenix meet, with Bryan, Iain Bisset, Paizi and Mondal all winning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals.
