Boxing: Campbell's professional debut delayed

FORMER Repton amateur heavyweight Damian Campbell, who is now trained by Hackney's Brian Lawrence, must wait an extra week for his professional debut, which had been set for the Brentwood Centre on Friday night.

FORMER Repton amateur heavyweight Damian Campbell, who is now trained by Hackney's Brian Lawrence, must wait an extra week for his professional debut, which had been set for the Brentwood Centre on Friday night.

The double ABA finalist was due to face Lee Swaby on the undercard at the Frank Maloney promotion but the Lincoln fighter's late withdrawal left him without an opponent.

Campbell is now booked for the Maloney promotion this Friday night at the Doncaster Dome.

Meanwhile, Simon Lewis, who has won all three bouts in the colours of the Pedro ABC in Rushmore Road Clapton, has decided to make the switch to Repton BC in Bethnal Green.

The 27-year old from Hackney Wick has also been taking his ABA coaching course at the Pedro Club.

Lion ABC have booked four open shows for next season at their headquarters in Pitfield Street, Hoxton, starting on Friday November 19.
