Super lightweight has signed with Frank Warren after leaving Matchroom and fights in Leeds on Saturday

Ohara Davies looks forward to taking his first step on a new journey in Leeds on Saturday, confident he is on the right road to world title glory.

The former Repton amateur, based in the West Ham gym with trainer Barry Smith’s stable of fighters and coached by Oscar Moreno, Davies appears on the Elland Road bill topped by the world title clash of Lee Selby and Josh Warrington.

The 26-year-old, known as ‘Two Tanks’, boasts a record of 16 wins in 17 bouts and makes his debut under the Frank Warren banner at Elland Road after leaving the Matchroom group and former trainer Tony Sims .

He is set to meet French rival Christopher Sebire on Saturday and then move forward to face undefeated IBF European super lightweight champion Josh Leather on the Billy Joe Saunders againstMartin Murray bill at London’s O2 Arena on June 23.

The hard-hitting Davies, a former English champion who also won WBC and WBA international titles, includes 13 stoppages in his victories.

He is convinced the future is bright and thinks joining Warren and the MTK management group can lead to a world title bid.

“I had a hard few months at the start of the year, but now with the right people behind me I can keep my head down focus on my boxing and get where I want to be,” said Davies.

“The real Ohara Davies is back - there is no limit to what I can achieve in this game. I believe I can win a world title,” he insists.

• Lawrence Okolie anticipates the toughest night of his pro career when he faces Luke Watkins for the Commonwealth and WBA Continental cruiserweight titles at York Hall, on June 6.

The 26-year-old landed the WBA belt in his grudge match with Isaac Chamberlain at The O2 in February and now looks to add a second title to his collection in just his ninth pro outing.

However Okolie is aware that he faces a stiff task against Watkins, currently unbeaten after 13 fights.

“I’ll be honest – Watkins looks good. I’ve studied him a bit recently and you have to be respectful of his unbeaten record and style,” said Okolie.
