Former Repton amateur title-winner Bobby Ward will continue his pro campaign with a contest against Walsall veteran Steve Gethin at the Watford Colosseum next month.

The outing will mark a third pro contest inside three months for the 22-year-old, who is promoted by Hennessy Sports and based at trainer Tony Sims' Hainault gym.

Following a hotly disputed draw against Sheffield rival Mo Khaled in his pro debut at Wigan in June, super-featherweight Ward produced an impressive win over tough Midlands campaigner Sid Razak at York Hall last month.

Ward, a member of an outstanding fighting family, took a five-year break from boxing after a title-studded amateur career at Repton and Dagenham BC, which included a win over recent world title winner Amir Khan.

Ward faces the 31-year-old Gethin, who has battled some of the sport's top names in a 10-year career, including a 2005 clash with Khan which he lost on a third-round stoppage.

The Hennessy Sports promotion at the Colosseum, formerly the Watford Town Hall, features a clash for the vacant Southern Area welterweight title between old rivals Lee Purdy and Peter McDonagh and will be televised live on ITV4.
