Repton pair Martin Ward and Frank Buglioni get their chance to stake their claim to challenge for Commonwealth Games honours in Delhi when they line up in a Four Nations Challenge tournament in Sheffield next week.

The home boxers face the national teams of France, China and Kazakhstan at the Four Nations Challenge tournament in at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The competition takes place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August with the winners of the semi finals on the opening day moving into the finals the following day.

Repton coach Tony Burns said :"We have high hopes for both Martin and Frank - they know they can boost their Commonwealth chances with a good performances against top class opposition in Sheffield next week."

ABA champion Ward will be breaking new territory with selection at lightweight for the tournament after winning the ABA title this year and European Youth gold medal last summer in the featherweight division.

With competition tight in both divisions the 19-year-old Ward knows the importance of an impressive display in the Sheffield tournament.

Middleweight Buglioni, who earlier won national honours in the NACYP tournament, has already shown good form in India when he took part in the Commonwealth championship tournament in March at Delhi's Talkatora Indoor Stadium, which will host the boxing competition at the Commonwealth Games in the autumn.

The Repton boxer competing at only his fourth international, contested the middleweight final but lost on points to India's seasoned campaigner Vijender Singh, who was a Beijing 2008 Olympic Games bronze medallist.

The competition will be tough in Sheffield but both Ward and Buglioni know that a good performance could clinch selection for 2010 Commonwealth Games which will take place in Delhi from 3 to 14 October.
