East London rider tests at Snetterton and Cadwell

East London rider Sam Cox had his first weekend of testing recently at Snetterton & Cadwell circuits.

The weather was kind to the Poplar driver as well as despite rain forecast for Sunday it stayed dry throughout.

Cox’s bike was finished at T3 Racing on Friday and dynode at 140 BHP. It still needed Brembo Race discs, Supersport Radiator and Electronics to be fitted.

However it worked well throughout and performed without missing a beat on stock items.

Cox got up to a reasonable pace at Snetterton on Saturday with a dry track.

He did not wish to get the engine above 14,000 rpm first time out, so it was a great day for being back in the saddle, getting the eye co-ordinated and learning the new set up.

The east Londoner achieved a good base set up, which is expected to be useful for the return there with the BSB Championship in June.

On Saturday night Cox and his team travelled up to Cadwell and they were soon revisiting the back of the van accommodation they have become accustom too in previous years.

By 9pm they were in bed and ready for a good night’s sleep and the following day rain was expected.

A marquee was set up, but apart from a brief damp patch it remained very cold but ultimately dry on Sunday.

The Cadwell track is different to Snetterton and after Cox spoke with Mark Sadler, of Go Racing Developments, they made suspension and gearing changes using the new KTECH suspension and 428 gearing.

They also managed to remap the fuelling with help from Freddy Pett and the team, which is another step towards making the bike better prepared for different conditions.

Cox did not wish to go full out due to the tyre temperatures never making their working optimum, but he got down to a very respectable 1:35 time.

That is only two seconds off race pace required, which is a great sign as there are further improvements to be made.

All in all a really positive start to the season for Cox, which will serve him and his team well this coming weekend at Brands Hatch.

They will be testing with Hottrax Racing Club on Friday and then race Saturday and Sunday.
