A round up of the action from week three of the indoor cricket tournament

Havering Sixth Form and NewVic College picked up dominant wins at the UEL SportsDock on Wednesday as the Essex Cricket Board FE Chance to Shine indoor cricket tournament returned for week three.

Havering Sixth Form faced off against Barking & Dagenham College and were put in to field after the latter won the toss.

Bhajandip Singh got Barking off to a good start with a knock of 19 from 10 balls, but opening partner Rahul Kainth was bowled for six by Oliver Wright.

Singh departed shortly afterwards, bowled by Louis Pickering, and Gurpreet Singh and Osama Imtiaz came in. Singh produced a brilliant 25 and retired, but his partners were unable to stay in with him.

Imtiaz was caught for three by Kudiwa Kamudyariwa off the bowling of Sam Childs, Saad Rashid departed the same way for duck and Kasim Hussain was bowled by Jack Paine for one.

Singh returned at the end and made his way to 30 runs, but was run out by White to end the Barking innings at 80 all out in the 10th over.

In reply, Havering had no difficulty in chasing down the total. Kamudyariwa scorched 25 off 11, with one four, and fellow opener Harry Gilhan tallied 26 off 16 deliveries before both retired.

Payne (14) and Pickering (7) then finished off the run chase with the aid of nine extras from the Barking and Dagenham bowling attack. Havering completed the chase in just 6.1 overs to win by six wickets.

The second match of the day saw NewVic pitted against George Monoux College. NewVic won the toss and batted, a decision that proved clever as they immediately put George Monoux under the cosh.

Sagar Joshi started off on a tear and although he lost opening partner Bilal Durrani (3) to a run out, Joshi and Abdullah Khan set up a partnership that would put NewVic on their way to a huge total.

Joshi retired after scoring 25 and Azhar Uddin came in to take up where Joshi had left off, scoring 21 off just eight balls before he was caught by Asif Kabir off Yasser Syad. Khan was dismissed after scoring 28, but NewVic weren’t done yet.

Kalim Khan blasted two sixes on his way to an innings of 27, and following his dismissal Joshi returned and went on to score a total of 45 run from 20 deliveries as NewVic finished their 10 overs on 150-5.

George Monoux got off to a dreadful start in reply as Syed Qasim Ali was bowled first ball by Kalim Khan. But Arbaz Ali and Qasim Ali steadied the ship with a brilliant partnership, as they each scored 25 and then retired.

After their retirements, though, the game got out of hand for George Monoux. Fahim was caught for a slow two runs by Joshi off the bowling of Abdullah Khan, and Kabir was bowled for duck by Kalim Khan.

Arbaz Ali and Qasim Ali did return at the end but added little to a flagging run chase, with Qasim Ali run out for 31 by Abdullah Khan.

Yasser Syad was run out by Khan for 14 off the final ball of the innings and NewVic were declared winners by 47 runs.

Kalim Kahn was the star of the bowling attack for NewVic, taking 2-30 in four overs to achieve the best economy rate for his club in their victory.
