Last seasons Hackney Gazette Cup runners-up Bancroft put that memory to rest with a thumping 4-2 win over Comet in the final at Leyton FC on Friday night.

Bancroft took the lead after 30 minutes through Justin Weatherman and it was 2-0 10 minutes later when Khalid Jama doubled their lead.

United dominated the second half and were three to the good when skipper Temi Oloto found the net, before Comet pulled a goal back through Danney Foley.

Man of the match Jama scored his second of the game in the 75th minute before Ulus Izzett struck a late consolation for Comet.

Premier Division leaders Lapton recovered from going a goal behind to thrash Irawo Reds 5-1

Real Romania are up to second place in the table after a fine 5-3 win over Clapton Rangers.

Gheorge Ofrim (2), Antoniu Mieroi (2) and Lucian Domnica were on target for Real, with Brian Okwera, Ashley Taylor and Michael Noble replying for Rangers.

A 90th-minute header from Shane Baptiste was enough for Bancroft United to beat nine-man MSW.

Cosmopolitan kept their Divison Two promotion bid alive after beating Jay Cubed 6-4. Richard St Clair hit a brace, with Liam Patrick, Jason Brown and Darnyl Stanley also scoring, while Justin Leonce, Jason Harley and Simon Matson replied for Cubed, who finish mid-table.
