The future looks bright for Caroline Dubois after she took gold in the girls’ lightweight category at the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.
The 17-year-old, who trains at the Peacock Gym in Canning Town and has also trained with Repton in the past, beat Thailand’s Porntip Buaba in the final to triumph.
After coming through two previous rounds before reaching the final, the teenager is now unbeaten in 35 amateur fights.
Dubois is sure to be targeting the next senior Olympics in Tokyo in 2020, and BBC Sport’s boxing correspondent Mike Costello is tipping the talented youngster for stardom.

“I am having to slam on the brakes because I am tempted to call Caroline the best female boxer I have seen,” said Costello on the BBC Radio Five Live boxing podcast.
“When you compare it to what Katie Taylor or Nicola Adams have done, or other Olympic gold medallists, OK they have achieved at a higher level so you may wonder why I am saying what I am saying.

“I am just looking at the potential, but also at the way she carries herself around the ring.
“All of those others I have mentioned at times look like they are having to work hard to do what they are doing, like they are having to think about it.
“You watch Caroline and it’s like it is all happening and flowing like water down a stream, coming so simply to her.”
*Peacock Gym-based Anthony Yarde made a successful defence of his WBO inter-continental light heavyweight title against Walter Gabriel Sequeira at the Brentwood Centre on Saturday.
Yarde was able to beat his Argentine rivals with a fourth-round stoppage on a Frank Warren bill that was shown live by BT Sport, but must now be looking for world title shots.
After the 16th knockout win of his professional career, Yarde said: “Sequeira was awkward and I had to work him out.
“This was only my 17th professional fight and I only had 12 amateur bouts before that, so I am still doing my apprenticeship.
