East London 7 Phoenix 0 Henry Emery marked his East London firsts debut with a man-of-the-match performance and two goals to help the Division 3SE table-toppers demolish their fifth-placed opponents at Mile End Stadium.

Adam Willoughby’s men resumed action after their winter break with a clinical display to keep their unbeaten record intact.

Phoenix’s ultra-defensive approach to the match looked to be paying dividends as the first half ended only 1-0 to the home team. But, after East London notched their second soon after the break, the need to attack left them exposed to an orange onslaught.

Emery netted twice, with Felix Evans and Toby Lawley Butler also scoring two each. Dan Collis produced a lovely finish to add to the score.

? The second team survived a tense finale to come out 3-2 winners in a topsy-turvy game against Maldon & Little Baddow.

After throwing away a 1-0 half-time lead, East London had to fight back from 2-1 down to claim the upper hand and were thankful for a glaring late miss by the opposition with their last attack of the game.

? The men’s third team failed to capitalise on the lion’s share of possession and chances in their 2-1 defeat to Saffron Walden and remain deep in relegation trouble – just one point off the bottom of the Division 4SE table.

? A man-of-the-match display from Mike Kennedy saw the fours edge out Waltham Forest 1-0.

? The fifth team over-turned a two-goal deficit to run out 6-3 winners against Saffron Walden.

East London trailed 3-1 at half-time, but a second-half revival extended their spectacular run of form to 12 wins from 12 matches.

? However, the sixths lost 2-0 at Saffron Walden and are now six points clear of the bottom of the Division 9SE table.
