There are plenty of sporting events going on across Lee Valley Regional Park to keep youngsters in London busy during half-term.
Visitors will be spoilt for choice when planning how to keep their young ones busy during the week long break.
In addition to its award winning open spaces such as River Lee Country Park and Walthamstow Marshes, visitors should head to the park’s sport and leisure venues and make the most of schools being closed to learn a new skill, take on a hobby or simply to let off some steam.

Pedal Up Pump! at Lee Valley VeloPark
Children interested in BMX and Mountain Biking can try Pedal Up Pump! These one hour sessions take place on the indoor pump track located inside the velodrome. During the session, riders will learn to stand confidently on the pedals and understand how to negotiate the pump track safely, along with key bike handling techniques – fully preparing them for BMX track and mountain bike trails.

Star Track at Lee Valley Athletics Centre
Budding young athletes can follow in the footsteps of some of Britain’s finest Olympians at the award winning Lee Valley Athletics Centre this May half term.
Run over a series of days, Star Track is a fun packed introductory course into the world of athletics. Here under the direction of expert coaches, children will learn and master a range of skills for all the different types of athletics disciplines including hurdles, high jumps, sprinting and javelin.
Aimed at children between 6-12 years old Star Track is a great way to keep the little ones fit and active during the school break.

School Holidays Ice Skating at Lee Valley Ice Centre
Designed for participants of all ages, this four day course provides a fantastic opportunity for beginners to learn the basics of ice skating whilst making new friends.
Each 30 minute lesson will be led by a NISA qualified instructor and include entry into the 11:00 – 13:00 public skating session for skaters to practice their new found skills. Successful graduates will also receive a certificate on completion of the course.

#ClubVPK Road and Track Attack at Lee Valley VeloPark
For older children there is #ClubVPK Road and Track Attack. Here teenagers aged between 12 – 16 years old can follow in the footsteps of Laura Kenny and Chris Hoy by riding the Velodrome track.
During the session, fully qualified coaches will teach them the skills and techniques required to ride a fixed wheel bike confidently as they progress their way up the 42 degree bank. Afterwards, riders will master Lee Valley VeloPark’s one mile road circuit to help perfect their road cycling skills.

National Go Canoeing Week at Lee Valley White Water Centre
Organised by British Canoeing, this nationwide campaign aims to get as many people as possible into a canoe and onto the water. The London 2012 legacy venue will be hosting Go Canoeing sessions and Guided Tours for novice and seasoned paddlers - visitors can also have a go at stand up paddle boarding.
In partnership with Cancer Research UK, this year’s campaign is also encouraging people across the UK to collectively paddle 30,000 miles to raise £30,000 for the charity.

FootGolf at Lee Valley Golf Course
This popular and fast growing sport is a fun way to pass the hours with the whole family.
A fusion between football and golf, the object of the game is to kick a football into each of the 18 holes around the course in the fewest number of shots possible.

Mixed Hockey Championship Finals at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre
With just two months to go until the Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup opens in London on Saturday 21 July, families attending this weekend tournament will get a taste of what to expect from the international event this summer.
The atmosphere will be electric and the energy high during the first ever England Hockey Championship Finals with adult teams from across the country competing for glory – and the shiny trophy.
