Two Mile End Stadium clubs discovered who and where they would start their league campaign at the start of this week

The Essex Senior League finally revealed the fixtures for the new campaign on Monday and Tower Hamlets will start with a trip to local rivals Clapton on July 30.

Ade Abayomi’s men are in FA Cup action after facing the Tons, but are on the road again on August 10 as they travel to Barkingside at Cricklefield.

Hamlets visit Wadham Lodge three days later, before playing their first home encounter on August 22 when Ilford visit.

The Mile End Stadium club conclude the month with another fixture in front of their own fans on August 27 when Stansted make the trip before the big derby with Sporting Bengal United, who they groundshare with, on August 31, which sees Hamlets as the ‘away’ side for the fixture at Mile End.

Bengal begin their campaign at Haringey & Waltham, who were named Greenhouse Sports last season, on July 30, but the venue has yet to be announced.

Imrul Gazi’s men then face Ipswich Wanderers in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup and that tie will now take place on Sunday, August 7.

The east Londoners could then face a 20-day wait for another match if they fail to progress.

Bengal’s next game after their FA Cup tie is set to be on August 27 at Basildon United, before taking on rivals Hamlets at the Mile End Stadium on August 31.

Gazi’s men stepped up their preparations for the new season this week as they played their first friendly of the summer.

The Mile End club hosted AC London on the 3G pitch at Stepney Green, but suffered a 3-2 reverse.

On Saturday Bengal take on FC Hamlets at Hackney Marshes, before playing at Stepney Green again on Tuesday (July 26) as Brimsdown United provide the test for Gazi’s new-look team.
