Mile End club helped one player make jump up to Premier League last season and want to do something similar again

Tower Hamlets manager Ade Abayomi hopes his talented youngsters will be better players for the experience of last year.

The Mile End Stadium club had plenty of teenagers in their squad for the 2015/16 campaign and although they shone at times, they also had some difficult times in the Essex Senior League.

Despite that, Abayomi, who was previously coaching the Tower Hamlets youth team, is positive his youngsters can shine again.

He said: “We learnt a lot from last year and that is one of the reasons why I’ve brought in more experienced players.

“Hopefully they can help our younger guys and give them a little bit more of a cushion to aid their development.”

Hamlets finished 17th out of 21 teams during the previous season having picked up 36 points from 40 league matches.

One of their major highlights was off the pitch when Randell Williams signed for Premier League outfit Crystal Palace after impressing for Abayomi’s team.

It is something that makes the Mile End club incredibly proud and Williams wasn’t the only Hamlets player to earn a move to a higher division.

Abayomi will once again be looking to develop his players and help them, adding: “This season we want to do the same as we did last year and we have more guys who are waiting for a chance.

“I’m sure sooner rather than later they’ll come in. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do and improving the quality of our youth is always my main focus.

“The chairman knows that is what we want to do because we can’t go anywhere at the moment as the stadium isn’t ready for Ryman League football.

“We can’t challenge for the title yet, but if we can help to develop players and move them on to a higher level then we will.”
