Tower Hamlets manager Ade Abayomi has lavished praise on his young team following the first two Essex Senior League matches of the season.

The Mile End Stadium club started their campaign away to Takeley on Saturday and suffered a 2-0 defeat.

But they bounced back last night (Monday) by beating Basildon United by the same scoreline with Omar Rowe and Yusuf Ali on target.

Manager Abayomi has been thrilled to see his young side thrive and despite seeing them lose at the weeknd, praised their display.

He said: “The performance on Saturday was very good. The amount of chances the boys created was excellent.

“The disappointing thing was that we didn’t take our chances and didn’t put them away. We overplayed a little bit too much.

“But we were happy that they created so many opportunities. We must have had five one v one chances and I think Takeley only had a few, but they took them.”

After that opening day defeat, it was great for the confidence of the Tower Hamlets youngster to register a victory yesterday.

Basildon are expected to be a strong side this season so the win for Abayomi’s boys was even more impressive.

He hailed his goalscorers, adding: “Omar Rowe is a very talented boy and Yusuff Ali also scored.

“I couldn’t understand how we didn’t taken something from the game on Saturday with the chances we created, but I need to remember that they are just kids at the end of the day.

“Yesterday’s match was really good and again don’t forget the majority of them are young kids. So far I am really proud of how they have played and the football they are producing.

“We did play Basildon off the park. Anybody that loves the game would have enjoyed watching us play football on Monday.”
