Barking manager Justin Gardner is looking forward to coming up against a former club in Tower Hamlets this evening.

The Blues will welcome AJ Ashanike’s side to Mayesbrook Park for their second round London Senior Cup tie.

And the 38-year-old is excited about having a challenge away from the Bostik North as they bid to progress into the quarter-finals of the cup competition.

“Tower Hamlets was previously called Bethnal Green United and it was my old club,” Gardner said.

“I’ve never played against them, not even in a friendly, so that will be different but the club has changed a lot.

“It’s still the same chairman and I think there is only one other person remaining there other than the chairman since my time there and that’s AJ the manager.

“They had a great result on Friday, they beat Clapton 5-0, but we’ll look forward to that as its different pressures to the league.”

The winner will then face National League South side Dulwich Hamlet in the next round.
