Essex Senior League: Tower Hamlets 2 Sporting Bengal United 3

Sporting Bengal United are now eight games unbeaten after securing a 3-2 win over local rivals Tower Hamlets to earn the borough bragging rights.

A brace from Jay Knight and another from Mario Embalo was enough to bag the three points for Bengal despite a late fightback from the hosts at the Mile End Stadium.

Knight opened the scoring in the match as he brought down a cross from Embalo and slotted it home in the early stages of the match.

Playmaker Embalo then turned goal scorer as headed a Steven Carvell corner into the net from the front post to make it 2-0.

Hamlets then clawed one back thanks to Oseman Usifoh before Bengal got another thanks to Knight who slotted home a ball in from Carvell.

The hosts failed to give up and netted a second thanks to Oneal Rowe to reduce the score line to 3-2 but it ended up only being a consolation goal.

Bengal midfielder Steven Carvell tweeted after the match: “3-2 derby win, 2 assists, 8 unbeaten.” ✅
