East London Sunday League round-up

Meath United's hopes of winning the Premier League title for a third successive year suffered another early blow after last weekend's 2-1 home defeat by Hackney Downs left them without a win from their opening two games.

Meath started well at Victoria Park and went ahead when Frankie Curly picked up the ball on the right flank, forced his way in to

the penalty area and produced a cross-shot that found its way into the net.

But the hosts were rocked when they were pegged back on the stroke of half-time and things went from bad to worse when a handball midway through the second period saw them concede a penalty, from which Hackney secured all three points.

Meanwhile, newly promoted side White Swan & Cuckoo were involved in high-scoring game when held to a 3-3 draw by Inter Lucia.

In Division One, Holloway produced a tremendous performance to beat Queensbridge 4-3, while Railway Tavern kept up their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 3-2 success against Stoke Newington. Young Prince were hit for six as Dockland Amateurs romped to a 6-0 win. Hackney Downs B edged out newcomers Hatch Lane with a 4-3 victory, while EFY registered their first win in the division with a 4-1 success against Hare & Hounds.

William Fitt Lions went goal crazy in Division Two by recording the biggest win of the day when thrashing Ollerton Green 18-1, while Stratford Juniors were also free scoring in their 15-2 demolition of Clandestinos.

And Concordia were involved in a 13-goal thriller as they beat The 45s by a 7-6 scoreline.

In the London Junior Cup, Homerton Rangers stormed into the third round with a 6-0 win against Hendon's Norstar thanks to doubles from Ben Head and Darius Winter, with Lee Greenaway and Jeffery Smith also on target.

Millwall Albion also progressed with a 4-1 win at FC Leytonstone.
