Barkingside earnt themselves a draw against in-form Saffron Walden Town thanks to a brace from Michael Clarke.

Clarke netted either side of the break to cancel out goals from the Bloods Lewis Francis and Ashley Skeggs to share the points at Catons Lane.

Barkingside tweeted: “Great to get a point today for boss Michael Walther and the lads. “A few debutants in squad today and reports are that we played brilliantly.

“Would’ve been nice to have won, but let’s use today as a result to build on lads.

“Well done.”

Side will now face Hullbridge Sports Reserves in the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy at Cricklefield Stadium on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Tower Hamlets fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat against Takeley at the Mile End Stadium.

Manager AJ Ashanike tweeted after the match: “Another good performance from these young boys Tower Hamlets but Takeley took their chances well.

“Well done lads. All the best.”
