Ade Abayomi’s youngsters handed out a thrashing to fellow east London rivals at the Old Spotted Dog

Tower Hamlets earned their first victory in the Essex Senior League since August after beating local rivals London Bari 5-0 last night.

Ade Abayomi’s hadn’t played since October 3 when they held Sporting Bengal to a goalless draw so went into the game with some confidence.

Both teams seemed set to come in at half time with the scores level as neither appeared able to break the deadlock.

That changed in the first minute of stoppage time at the end of the 45, however, when Ali Ibrahim headed home the opener from inside the box.

It gave the Mile End Stadium outfit a big boost and it didn’t take them long to double their advantage at the Old Spotted Dog.

Kamon Asidio made it 2-0 in the 56th minute before O’Neal Rowe got his first of the night on the hour mark.

Hamlets knew the points were virtually safe now, but Rowe made sure eight minutes later with his second.

And then seven minutes from time he completed his hat-trick to complete a great night for Abayomi’s young side and Rowe in particular.

The result keeps Hamlets 19th in the table but they’ve moved onto 11 points from their first 12 fixtures now.

Bari’s woes continue, however, and they have now lost their last four games in a row in the division.

Chris Davis’ team are 15th with 14 points from 13 matches and visit Eton Manor next on Saturday.
