Three first-half goals handed points to Essex club and leave Mile End Stadium outfit near the bottom

Tower Hamlets suffered a third consecutive defeat in the Essex Senior League last night after losing 3-0 to Hullbridge Sports.

A terrible first half display by Ade Abayaomi’s men at the Mile End Stadium ensured the contest was over at the break.

It took the visitors just four minutes to open the scoring when Luca Frankis got past his marker to slow home.

But Hamlets did nearly respond when O’Neal Rowe was put through, but his touch was poor and the chance went begging.

The opportunity boosted the hosts and Rowe tested Jamie Merralls in the Hullbridge goal with a 25-yard effort.

Hamlets then went even closer to equalising when Saico Djop’s lob hit the post and was eventually scrambled away.

It was to prove costly with Hullbridge doubling their advantage eight minutes before the break when Howard Wright fired into the top corner.

And three minutes later it was 3-0 when Frankis headed home Aaron Hunwicks free kick to virtually wrap up the points.

The scoreline was slightly harsh on the hosts, yet they were punished for not making the most of their chances.

Unsurprisingly the second half was less eventful, although Charlie Little nearly made it 4-0, but his shot from a tight angle was saved.

Hullbridge were looking the more likely to add to their tally and Will Holland twice went close.

Eventually the full time whistle was blown to consign Hamlets to another defeat – their sixth of 2017.

Abayomi’s men will now have to wait until February 25 to try and get back on track when they visit Waltham Forest.

The Mile End club sit 20th in the table and are only four points ahead of strugglers Burnham Ramblers, who have three games in hand.

Tower Hamlets: Duggay-During, Sumithran, Lang, Pedro, Junior, Adama Bamba, Djop (Da Silva 62), Kourouma, Rowe, Agymeng, Ikenwe.

Attendance: 28.
