Eight local primary schools take part in football tournament in aid of Red Nose Day
Children from across east London descended on Powerleague Shoreditch to take part in a special football tournament organised to raise money for Comic Relief.
The eight primary schools who sent boys and girls team to compete were Christ Church CofE, who were the hosts, Sir John Cass, Mayflower, Osmani, Cyril Jackson, Old Palace, Hague and Mowlem.
Old Palace had reason to celebrate in the girls’ competition as their team were the victors.
Mayflower, meanwhile, were the winners of the boys’ competition having turned in some impressive displays.
Cyril Jackson and Christ Church were the beaten finalists in the girls’ event and boys’ tournament respectively.
“Powerleague manager Luke Percell was brilliant at assisting to host the day along with core hosts Christ Church Primary and has said that he hopes to expand teams next year and make it an annual charity even,” said a spokesperson.
The money raised from the event formed part of the £70m+ raised so far by this year’s Red Nose Day appeal.
