West Ham striker Freddie Sears will probably return to the club from Crystal Palace in a matter of weeks

West Ham striker Freddie Sears will probably return to the club from Crystal Palace in a matter of weeks.

The Hammers youngster, who scored the winner on his debut against Blackburn at the Boleyn in March 2008, was supposed to be on loan at Selhurst Park until the end of the season.

However, with the East End club short up front, the club have admitted his time in south London will more than likely be cut short.

Although Sears has failed to score in any of his 11 league and cup starts for Palace, Eagles manager Neil Warnock has been impressed with his showings, although rather quick to jump the gun on his exit, which is yet to be confirmed.

"Freddie's here for two more games," the former Sheffield United boss said.

"They have requested he goes back. I think what with Carlton Cole being out, they need everybody looking at their situation.
