Ilford crashed out of the BBC Essex Senior Cup on penalties to Essex Senior League rivals Southend Manor last night.

Manors sealed a 3-0 win in the penalty shoot-out after clawing their way back into the game and earn a 2-2 draw with the Foxes before full-time at Southchurch Park.

Martin Haywood’s side let a 2-0 lead at half-time slip in the second-half and eventually paid for it as their opponents progressed into the third round of the cup competition.

They broke the deadlock three minutes into the match when Lion Docaj sent a brilliant effort into the far corner of the net to make it 1-0.

Ilford then doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Yasseir Nazor hit the bar, but David Oyeleku converted the rebound.

The hosts clawed one back in the 59th minute as Lewis Sparrow converted from the penalty spot after Dewberry was fouled inside the box.

Two minutes later they levelled the score when Dewberry fired the ball home after a pass from Mo Kargbo.

Neither side could find a winner and it ended up going to penalties where Manor ran out victorious.

Elsewhere, Sporting Bengal United crashed out of the Gordon Brastead Memorial Trophy as they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Walthamstow.

Imrul Gazi’s side went out in the first round of the cup competition and will now turn their attentions to the FA Vase and league action.
