Imrul Gazi made to wait for first competitive Sporting Bengal United game while Tower Hamlets take on Clapton in Essex Senior League

Two Mile End clubs have games on Saturday, but only one will be in the Essex Senior League now

Sporting Bengal United manager Imrul Gazi will have to wait a little bit longer for his first competitive match in charge of the Essex Senior League side.

The Mile End Stadium club were expected to start their campaign at Haringey & Waltham this weekend, but the fixture has been postponed.

Haringey, who were named Greenhouse Sports last season and played at Coles Park, are believed to have no fixed abode.

Bengal’s scheduled clash for July 30 will now be played at a later date meaning their extra preliminary round FA Cup tie against Ipswich Wanderers will be Gazi’s first official match in charge of the east Londoners.

The tie is taking place on Sunday, August 7 at league rivals Wadham Lodge’s Stadium in Walthamstow with Mile End not yet available.

Bengal played a friendly at Hackney Marshes on Saturday against FC Hamlets and played out a 1-1 draw. On Tuesday they took on Brimsdown United and lost 2-1 at Stepney Green.

With no league fixture this weekend, Gazi’s men will take on Sporting Hackney on the 3G pitch at Mabley Green for a 2pm kick-off.

Tower Hamlets are getting ready to start their league season with a trip to Clapton.

Ade Abayomi’s talented young team will travel to the Old Spotted Dog Stadium on Saturday and expect a stern test with the Tons finishing seventh in the division last year.
