The O's have drawn their opening three games of the campaign, but will look to win at Maidstone tonight

Leyton Orient head to Maidstone United this evening for their fourth National League game of the season and head coach Justin Edinburgh could make some changes to his team.

At the weekend, the O’s were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Barrow after Macauley Bonne’s brace was cancelled out.

Edinburgh gave first starts of the campaign to Marvin Ekpiteta and Charlie Lee – the former due to George Elokobi’s hamstring injury.

Looking ahead to tonight’s match at the Gallagher Stadium, midfielder Alex Lawless conceded it is important Orient use the options available to them.

He said: “The way football is going at the minute is squad rotation and I would like to think we have a squad as good as anyone in this league.

“We just need to use it like we are. We are all in it together and that will be a big part of why we will do well.”

Lawless was on the bench on Saturday, but may find himself back in the starting team later today.

Josh Koroma impressed as a substitute against Barrow and he is another pushing for a place from the off in Kent.

Other options available to Edinburgh include James Dayton, who had a positive impact at Salford City on the opening day of the season.

Someone who should start again is Ekpiteta after Elokobi was ruled out for a number of weeks with a grade two hamstring tear.

Lawless praised the 22-year-old and the influence of Orient’s players off the bench in the first few games of the term.

“I think we saw at Salford the substitutions made a difference and I would like to think we have a good squad and good togetherness,” the ex-Luton Town midfielder said.

“There is a lot of competition, but I think it will work for us this season and Marvin did great against Ebbsfleet United.

“Fingers crossed George will get back soon and he will then be fighting for his starting position again.”

Although O’s squad seems strong on paper, they will look to prove it is tonight away to Maidstone by securing an opening win of the season.
