French skipper believes the O’s have to get back on track against Cambridge United
Mathieu Baudry has called on his Leyton Orient team mates to keep their performance levels high and get back on form at Cambridge United tomorrow (Saturday).
The Frenchman was part of the side that were beaten 4-0 at Exeter City last weekend, but despite that loss the O’s remain top of the League Two table.
A trip to the Abbey Stadium isn’t the easiest of fixtures for Orient, but they will look to bounce back against Richard Money’s team.
Baudry believes the Brisbane Road outfit will show their class this weekend, he said: “The hardest thing is to stay on top. When you come to a place, it is bang the opposition are up for it because they are playing against the leaders.
“We have put the bar really high and we need to stay there, but it is hard week in, week out to keep the level that we have set. We play with a bit of flare and it is hard to have that consistently.
“But we know we have to be better defensively and let the attackers do the work. But I don’t think we have been lucky for five games. Maybe our goalkeeper has had to make a few saves, but that is what he is there for.”
With Orient at the summit, the pressure is apparently on them to remain as the early season pace setters.
Baudry believes the O’s need to up the level of performance they delivered at Exeter last weekend if they are to defeat Cambridge.
He added: “We enjoy that everyone wants to beat us because we are top. It is better than last year when everyone thinks they are going to beat us.
“You have to up your game once you put the bar where we have put it over the last few weeks. It is hard because you always need to be 100 per cent and in this league it is so tight so if you stop performing people will use that to beat you.”
Orient will be motivated not to suffer a second consecutive league defeat against the U’s.
