Bromley manager Neil Smith feels his side were unlucky to lose 3-1 to league leaders Leyton Orient.

John Goddard’s goal late in the first-half gave Smith’s depleted side the lead, but Jobi McAnuff and Josh Koroma netted three minutes apart before the hour mark to turn things around.

And Macauley Bonne added another goal to his tally as Justin Edinburgh’s men picked up three points at Brisbane Road.

“I think so, I thought with the team that we had, Dunney (Alan Dunne) just coming back from an injury and going into a massive game like that was outstanding for the time he was on the pitch.

“Going in 1-0 at half-time, everything is going as we planned, second-half try to do exactly the same.

“If Jonny goes through and puts that goal away, 2-0 up I think that’s a different game, they would have had to come at us and we could have maybe picked them off.

“But as soon as they got that free-kick the crowd got behind them and then it’s always a difficult game.”

The 47-year-old boss believes all three of the O’s goals were avoidable from his side but insists he will just pick out the positives from the performance.

“I don’t think we need to give the free-kick away, I think the second goal I think we’re down in the 18 yard box and within three seconds they’ve come back and scored.

“The third goal Gregory has held his hands up and said he should have done better, he pushed it out and they just stabbed it home.

“They’re all avoidable but I’m just going to go on the positives of what happened in the first-half.

“Especially against a club like this who are top of the league, full house with everyone behind them, but the boys did well.”

While, Smith also stuck with his opinion that his side deserved a better result than a 3-1 defeat.

“Just disappointed with the result, performance wise I thought we did ok.

“I don’t think it was a 3-1 result but when you pick up the paper that’s what it will say.”
