Leyton Orient head coach Steve Davis admits the club’s talented youngsters are attracting interest from top teams.

Speculation is heating up about the possible transfers of Steven Alzate and Tristan Abrahams and Davis believes nothing has been done yet.

Alzate has been heavily linked with Brighton & Hove Albion, while Abrahams has been rumoured with moves to Norwich City and Crystal Palace.

“Not that I know of, but obviously there has been some interest from one or two clubs as has been speculated.”

The 51-year-old also admitted the reason the two players missed out on being picked to play against Billericay Town this weekend.

“At the moment we couldn’t risk those players to play them,” he said.

“That’s ongoing at the moment, until I speak to Martin and the powers that be, I don’t know where we’re up to with it.

“Obviously we miss them because they give us something different, but as I say I can’t really comment beyond knowing that there is some speculation.

“But as I say until I know of Martin the situation is I can’t really say too much about it.”

Davis has also been impressed with the displays of the two trialists the O’s have been using in the last three pre-season matches.

Jamie Sendles-White, formerly of Swindon Town, played 45 minutes for O’s during their goalless draw with Hornchurch last week, but the centre back didn’t make his way onto the pitch from the bench in their latest pre-season encounter.

Meanwhile former Cheltenham Town winger James Dayton made another appearance off the bench for O’s and hit the woodwork with a superb free-kick late on in the game.

“We’ve been pleased with them, I think something with hopefully both of them will happen shortly so they’ll be some news in the newspapers about that.

“I’ve been pleased with what they’ve given us, they’ve given us something different and obviously we want to try get a bit of a balance and they provide us with that balance and cover in the squad.”
