Orient CEO Danny Macklin thanked the Essex and Southend Sports Trust for helping bring the local community and club closer

EASST (Essex and Southend Sports Trust) have continued their support of Leyton Orient Football Club and Leyton Orient Trust with a donation of £10,000.

Peter Butler and Joe Sims from EASST presented a cheque to Kent Teague, principal investor and vice-chairman, alongside chief executive Danny Macklin and Leyton Orient Trust’s Head of Communications Louise Stephens ahead of the game against Dover Athletic on August 27.

The donation will support Leyton Orient Trust to continue their work bringing the community and the club closer through projects like the community ticket scheme and the hub.

The community ticket scheme provides free or discounted tickets to the local community.

This includes the popular 50/50 scheme that allows community groups, schools, or charities to watch the O’s at a discounted rate whilst raising funds for their own groups, with proceeds split 50-50.

The hub is enjoyed as a welcome room and meeting point for minority groups, charities and those with disabilities to use during match days.

Schools and organisations are also invited to use it on non-match days. Those attending are made to feel welcome and can use the area during half time.

Since its launch, the hub has welcomed around 45 charities or community groups on match days, totalling around 1,800 people invited in to The Hub.

Danny Macklin, O’s CEO, said: “On behalf of Leyton Orient, I would like to thank EASST for their continued support of the club and the trust in helping bring the local community and club closer.

“We look forward to working together this season, and beyond.”

Peter Butler, Chairman at EASST, added: “EASST has recently expanded its geographical area to include the east London boroughs that used to be part of Essex and still are for many sporting purposes.

“We are therefore delighted to be supporting Leyton Orient Trust’s community programmes in the area.”
