Hearn was chairman of club from 1995 until 2014

Former Leyton Orient owner Barry Hearn has been named as the east London club’s new honorary president.

The 69-year-old served as chairman of the club from 1995 until 2014, when he sold O’s to Francesco Becchetti.

The Italian has since sold the Brisbane Road outfit to Eagle Investments 2017, headed by Dunkin’ Brands Group chief executive officer Nigel Travis, who have handed Hearn a return to the club.

In addition to his role with Orient, the Matchroom Sport owner will also sponsor the club’s youth teams this season.

“In keeping with the rest of Leyton Orient, I am looking forward to it,” Hearn told the club website.

“I have always been a fan and right now I couldn’t be any happier for Orient as a club.

“Nigel Travis has come in with his group and I really believe they are the right people.”

Orient have also confirmed their pre-season schedule, which starts away to Harlow Town on July 15.

O’s also visit Burnham Ramblers (July 18), Greenwich Borough (July 22), Hornchurch (July 25) and Billericay Town (July 29).

The Brisbane Road club will finalise their pre-season preparations by hosting Arsenal under-23s on August 1.
