Experienced midfielder has demonstrated his leadership qualities throughout the summer
Leyton Orient have confirmed midfielder Robbie Weir will captain the club for the 2016/17 season.
The 27-year-old only moved to Brisbane Road this summer, but has already made a lasting impression.
After spending the past four years at Burton Albion, Weir made the switch to east London after he was released by the Brewers.
Despite only being with the O’s since July 1, the midfielder has demonstrated his leadership qualities in every friendly played by Andy Hessenthaler’s men so far.
Orient’s manager has clearly seen enough in Weir to hand him the armband and fellow new recruit Liam Kelly is vice-captain.
Nicky Hunt, who moved to Brisbane Road from Mansfield Town in January, has also been announced as club captain.
