Leyton Orient produced a superb performance to earn a 1-0 win away to the in-form side in the National League - AFC Fylde.

Macauley Bonne scored the only goal of the game towards the end of the first half to give Justin Edinburgh’s team an excellent three points.

Orient inflicted Fylde’s first home defeat since September 23 and as a result have now moved up to 16th in the table.

Edinburgh named an unchanged side at Mill Farm, but it was the hosts who started the brighter of the two teams.

O’s slowly started to grow into the contest, however, with Dan Holman in particular looking lively and in the 41st minute he won the visitors a spot-kick.

Macauley Bonne stepped up to take the penalty and dispatched it confidently to put Orient in front.

It remained 1-0 to the away side at the break and once again Fylde began strongly after the restart.

Dean Brill was called into action on a couple of occasions before Bonne cleared a header from Simon Grand off the line in the 55th minute.

Edinburgh’s team again got on top after though, with Josh Koroma testing Jay Lynch after a lung-bursting run.

Craig Clay forced the Coasters goalkeeper into another save soon after before Brill had to be alert to prevent Danny Rowe from latching onto a through ball.

O’s nearly put the game to bed with seven minutes left when Clay picked out Bonne, but his header flew just wide.

With 86 on the clock Edinburgh introduced Alex Lawless for Koroma to try and shore up the game.

Four minutes of stoppage time were added on at the end of the 90 and Matt Harrold came on for Holman to kill some time before the full time whistle was blown.

This result extends Orient’s unbeaten run to four games and gives them plenty of confidence ahead of Tuesday’s game at Chester.

Leyton Orient: Brill; Caprice, Coulson, Elokobi, Widdowson; Koroma (Lawless 86), Adams, Clay, Brophy; Holman (Harrold 90), Bonne.

Unused substitutes: Grainger, Happe, Reynolds.

Attendance: 2,206.
