Leyton Orient have announced the loan signing of Newport County attacker Lamar Reynolds on a deal until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old spent the first half of the campaign with the Exiles, but struggled to make his mark at the League Two club.
Reynolds only signed for Newport after attending Jamie Vardy’s V9 academy in June, which was set up to help non-league players break into the Football League.
Although the wide-man hasn’t shown his true potential in Wales, he will aim to do so at Brisbane Road.
The Londoner will be in familiar surroundings too after starting his football career with Barking in the Essex Senior League – step five of the non-league pyramid.
After improving under former Blues boss Mick O’Shea, Reynolds went on to have spells with Thurrock, Aveley, Grays Athletic and Heybridge Swifts.
He returned to Mayesbrook Park during the 2015/16 season and helped Barking gain promotion to the Isthmian North under the management of Glen Golby and Steve Willis.
A move to Brentwood Town, also of the Isthmian North, occurred during the summer of 2016 and it proved a great decision.
Reynolds was prolific and his goalscoring exploits caught the attention of Football League clubs, but the attacker suffered a shoulder injury midway through the season, which forced him to spend a lengthy amount of time on the sidelines.
Once he returned, he picked up where he left off and then spent last summer with the V9 academy, which alerted Newport to his services.
The ex-Barking academy graduate went on to make 14 appearances, scoring once in the Football League Trophy against Cheltenham Town for the Welsh club.
Reynolds has been unable to kick on, however, but will look to show his true class during the second-half of the season at Brisbane Road.
