Leyton Orient had something to celebrate last night as Myles Judd won the League Football Education (LFE) Apprentice of the Year award for League Two.
The 18-year-old was nominated alongside Plymouth Argyle’s Alex Fletcher and Cambridge United’s Leon Davies and came out on top.
Judd’s performances since cementing his place in the team in November have been a rare high for O’s supporters.
Ian Hendon gave the teenager his debut back in September 2015 in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash at Luton Town.
But Judd had to wait over a year before making his next competitive appearance for Orient in the same competition.
After a solid showing against Brighton & Hove Albion under-23s, the right-back has been a consistent performer for O’s.
Judd has come on leaps and bounds this season - making 21 appearances for Orient - and has now capped it with this accolade.
He said: “To be recognised by the EFL is fantastic and I am so proud. Personally I have had a good season and hopefully I can kick on from collecting this award.”
The League Two outfit acknowledged the achievements of their defender with a statement on their website, it read: “The club would like to extend their congratulations to Myles on this fantastic achievement.”
Judd picked up his gong at the EFL awards night at the Hilton in Park Lane, London, but appears set to miss the rest of the season.
The teen hasn’t played for Orient since the 3-0 defeat at Crawley Town on March 25 due to a back problem.
And it seems likely that Judd has played his last match of the campaign and possibly his last for the O’s.
Despite signing a two-year professional contract in December, the right-back has been watched by several league clubs and Orient face a fight to keep him in the summer.
