Assistant Ross Embleton is hopeful the E10 outfit can continue their good form on their own turf and sign off at home in style

Ross Embleton wants Leyton Orient to finish the season with four wins in a row at Brisbane Road ahead of the two upcoming home games over the next week.

The O’s entertain play-off chasing Wrexham on Saturday before hosting Maidenhead United on Tuesday (April 25) for what is their final National League match in E10 this season.

After recent home successes over Woking (3-0) and Barrow (4-1), Orient assistant Embleton is hopeful they can keep it up and finish at Brisbane Road on a high.

He said: “We have to prioritise finishing with four straight home wins.

“It could have been easy to think – when there are only a certain amount of games left – ‘we are safe and the season is nearly over’ but we would have obviously never allowed that to happen.

“It has always been about trying to build momentum and to try and make us a different challenge and we want to give people some excitement for when they come back next season.

“We want to keep some sort of feel-good factor and we want to try and look up rather than be content with the position we are in.”

Although Orient have essentially been safe since the 3-0 victory over Woking on March 24, Saturday’s 1-1 draw at leaders Macclesfield Town, thanks to a Josh Koroma goal, made it official.

Four teams can no longer catch the O’s in the table and so they will be part of the National League for next season, but for Embleton and head coach Justin Edinburgh, the east Londoners have always looked past simply beating the drop.

“I’ve had a number of people say to me in recent weeks ‘we should be safe now’ and of course we wanted to be safe, but it has always been about other things,” said Embleton.

“We wanted to try and put our home form right, try to build a run of results and finish unbeaten and then finish as high as possible.

“There have been some dark moments this season and it has been a tough and long year for everyone and there have been a huge amount of changes, so it is nice to have back-to-back home wins now and hopefully we can keep building on this.”

After losing 1-0 at Hartlepool United on Tuesday night, Orient will be keen to get back to winning ways when the Dragons visit on Saturday and sign off from Brisbane Road with a victory next Tuesday against Maidenhead.
