Leyton Orient willing to let Dean Cox leave with Northampton Town interested in fans favourite

29-year-old has enjoyed strong start to new campaign, but Brisbane Road club apparently seem happy to let him leave for the right price

It’s understood Leyton Orient are willing to let Dean Cox leave for the right price with the end of the transfer window just hours away.

The 29-year-old has featured prominently for O’s at the start of the League Two campaign and scored once –during the 3-0 victory against Stevenage on August 16.

But despite being a clear favourite with the east London supporters, the ex-Brighton & Hove Albion ace may leave before 11pm tonight.

After spending the majority of last season out through injury, Cox has returned in good form for Andy Hessenthaler’s team this time around.

Despite that, rumours have continued to suggest the Orient number seven could leave E10 in this transfer window.

Peterborough United have been long-term admirers of the winger, but Cox has turned them down in the past and always remained committed to O’s.

And during the summer, the 29-year-old revealed on Twitter he would like to sign a new contract to extend his six-year stay at Brisbane Road.

Orient, however, don’t appear to be interested in offering Cox a new deal and, with less than 12 months remaining on his contract, are apparently happy to let him leave for the right price.

Northampton Town are said to have registered an interest in the wide man, who scored five times last year in just 16 appearances in all competitions before suffering cruciate knee ligament damage.

But if the Cobblers can’t come to an agreement with the O’s over a fee for the winger, Cox could end up elsewhere or potentially be frozen out.
