Josh Koroma believes remaining at Leyton Orient for the 2017/18 season was the right move for his development.

The teenager has progressed through the O’s academy alongside several other talented young players.

Koroma saw the likes of Steven Alzate and Tristan Abrahams depart last July to sign with Brighton & Hove Albion and Norwich City respectively.

Sam Dalby also exited Orient in January to link up with Leeds United and while the Orient winger wishes all three ex-team-mates well, he is pleased with his progress at Brisbane Road so far.

Koroma said: “I feel like obviously they will all feel leaving was better for them, but I think staying and playing men’s football has been better for me.

“I feel I am gaining more experiences with the more games I’m playing, but I wish all of them the best.

“They are all doing well where they are in the under-23s and I’m sure they will break into the first-teams when they are a bit older.

“But for me, I felt staying here and playing games was better for my career and my development right now.”

Although Alzate, Abrahams and Dalby have all made a positive impression at their new clubs, Koroma’s also kicked on this season.

Following a tough opening couple of months for the attacker, the appointment of Justin Edinburgh has appeared to get the best out of the 19-year-old.

Koroma finished the 2017/18 campaign with over 30 appearances and will hope to continue flourishing in E10 next season.
