National League: Maidenhead United 0 Leyton Orient 2

Macauley Bonne and James Alabi netted for Leyton Orient to help them return to winning ways in the National League at Maidenhead United.

Justin Edinburgh’s team were looking to bounce back and duly did on a wet, cold day at York Road.

The result saw Orient retain their second spot in the table ahead of hosting Hartlepool United next weekend.

Edinburgh was forced into a change with Josh Koroma ruled out with a knee injury and so Alabi started in his place.

After losing at home to Sutton United last time out, it didn’t take O’s long to get back into their stride.

Maidenhead failed to clear a corner and Jobi McAnuff crossed in where Bonne was on hand to head home in the 11th minute.

Orient continued to press and with half an hour played they doubled their advantage at York Road.

Again McAnuff was involved and he laid off for Alabi, who fired home for his second goal for the O’s.

It stayed 2-0 until half time and Orient were put under pressure by the Magpies after the restart, but stood firm.

James Brophy, Dale Gorman and Matt Harrold were all introduced and it helped the O’s clinch another victory.

The east Londoners remain second in the table and in an encouraging position after 15 league matches this season.

Leyton Orient: Brill; Judd, Coulson, Ekpiteta, Widdowson; McAnuff ©, Lee (Gorman 75), Clay, Dayton (Brophy 70); Alabi (Harrold 79), Bonne.

Unused substitutes: Sargeant, Ling.
