Brighton & Hove Albion ace discusses how the O’s are more professional now and praises Ian Hendon

Leyton Orient defender Adam Chicksen is targeting another win with his new club this weekend when they make the trip to Crawley Town in League Two.

The defender, who moved to Brisbane Road on a one-month loan from Brighton & Hove Albion recently, made his second debut for the O’s during their 3-1 win against Notts County last Saturday.

It is expected that Ian Hendon will select him at left-back again with Frazer Shaw remaining on the bench and the 24-year-old is looking forward to facing the Red Devils.

Broadfield Stadium isn’t too far away from where Chicksen lives and he is hopefully of helping Orient build some momentum now.

He said: “Getting back-to-back wins when you are going for promotion is massive so we want to keep winning.

“This weekend’s match is quite close so I am happy, it is only around the corner so it isn’t a long journey and I’ll be raring to go again.”

Chicksen’s previous spell with Orient was back in 2012 and that was only for one month in January.

Dean Cox was at the club then and the former MK Dons ace was also familiar with another member at Brisbane Road.

He spent some time on-loan at Gillingham last season so knows O’s assistant boss Andy Hessenthaler well and discussed the changes at the E10 outfit.

“I knew a few of the boys before I come, when you go to a club you want to see familiar faces and it makes you get inbreeded that much quicker,” said the Brighton ace.

“To see ‘Coxy’ and Ada Martin the kit man gets you settled in quicker so it is like coming home again.

“I knew Hess well from Gillingham, he is a great coach and the gaffer has made me feel so welcome early on so it feels like I have come in and slotted straight in so it is good.

“It has got more professional since I was last here, they are trying to implement even more higher standards than when I was at Orient before.”

The last comment from Chicksen is an interesting one and something a number of players that played at the club last season have also noted.

It remains to be seen how Hendon and his staff have made the O’s more professional, but it definitely bodes well for the long-term future of the Brisbane Road outfit.
