The O's will be missing Dan Holman and Sam Ling, but it could open the door for David Mooney to return to the match day squad

Leyton Orient will definitely be without Dan Holman and Sam Ling for the visit of Gateshead in the last-eight of the FA Trophy this afternoon.

Both are cup-tied having appeared in the first round of the competition with Boreham Wood and Dagenham & Redbridge respectively.

Holman started the O’s 1-0 win at Chester on Tuesday while Ling came off the bench for his debut, but the duo will have to watch from the stands today.

David Mooney is likely to take one of the available spots on the bench with Matt Harrold set to partner Macauley Bonne up front.

“We will lose Lingy and Holman for Saturday, but the blessing is the squad we have and players coming back in who haven’t figured of late, so we’ll lose them two, but we have strength in depth now,” Justin Edinburgh told BBC London.

Elsewhere, Orient’s head coach will be waiting to assess the fitness of experienced duo Jobi McAnuff and George Elokobi.

McAnuff hasn’t played since the previous round when O’s defeated Dover Athletic 4-3 at the Crabble Athletic Ground on February 3.

The winger suffered an injury to the top of his back, near his neck and shoulder area, and as of yet, he has been unable to return to full fitness.

But after three weeks of recovery, the 36-year-old will hope to be available for selection, although given the strong form of Josh Koroma and James Brophy, he may have to be content with a spot on the bench.

Elokobi, meanwhile, pulled up with a slight hamstring problem on Tuesday and O’s may decide not to risk the versatile defender.

He missed four months of the season with a torn hamstring suffered back in September and the last thing Orient need is for him to suffer a reoccurrence.

Long-term absentees Charlie Lee (ACL) and James Dayton (hamstring) remain sidelined for the foreseeable future while Myles Judd continues to be hampered by a groin injury.

O’s do have quite a few players unavailable, but as Edinburgh points out, they have a big squad now and more than enough quality to give Gateshead a real game today.
