Josh Coulson will not play again for O's this season after suffering a broken toe last weekend

Leyton Orient will be without Josh Coulson for today’s National League match at Macclesfield Town and the centre back is set to miss the rest of the season after breaking his toe last weekend.

The former Cambridge United defender was substituted after 25 minutes of the O’s 4-1 win over Barrow on Saturday.

It was hoped Coulson hadn’t suffered a serious injury, but scans later revealed a break and he will not play again this season.

While this is a blow, it provides Justin Edinburgh a further chance to see what recent recruit Marvin Ekpiteta can do.

The January 31 signer made his home debut against Barrow and slotted in well alongside George Elokobi.

Ekpiteta, who joined the O’s from East Thurrock United, will no doubt relish the opportunity to test himself against the Silkmen.

Orient may well be unchanged aside from Coulson’s exclusion, although youngster Josh Koroma could force himself into the starting XI.

The teenager netted his seventh goal for the club last weekend against Barrow and looked good in the hole behind Macauley Bonne.

Whether Edinburgh will go with the youngster in such a high-profile and tough game remains to be seen though.

He may well decide to stick with David Mooney, as Dan Holman slowly works his way back from a toe injury.

Meanwhile the likes of Matt Harrold and James Dayton (both hamstring) won’t play again for Orient this season, but Charlie Lee has returned to full training now.
